Ghanaian Journalist, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has said that the suspects being held for allegedly plotting to take down the Presidency ‘have planned to kidnap President Nana Akufo-Addo and his Vice, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.’
According to Kweku Baako, he has seen video footage of the plot which also revealed the men intended to seize the two foremost gentlemen of the land at a public event.
The veteran journalist made this sh0cking revelation on Joy News’ News File programme on Saturday.
The videos yet to be tendered in evidence were taken by spies planted by the state who infiltrated the camp of the alleged ‘coup’ plotters.
In a statement, Government said it monitored the activities of the ‘coup’ plotters for 15 months, culminating in the arrest of three of them and seizure of weapons last Friday.
The security agencies recovered a stash of weapons including, six pistols, three smoke grenades, 22 IEDs, two AK47 magazines, computer equipment and one long knife.
Usually, people are put on high alert when they hear of an attempt to destabilize a country. But certainly not in Ghana.
Ghanaians have launched a hilarious challenge on social media dubbed #coupchallenge to m0ck government, claiming that the weapons listed could not destabilize an army of ants let alone a whole nation.
This is not the first time security agencies have arrested some individuals over the possession of ‘deadly’ weap0ns.
In 2018, the Police at the Odorkor Divisional Command foiled an attempted terr0rist attack after it successfully picked up some individuals who were in possession of ‘b0mbs’.
