Kwahu Easter Cancelled Over Coronavirus Scare

Kasatintin.com can report that this year’s Kwahu Easter Festival has been completely called off.

The Kwahu Traditional Council took the decision in line with President Akufo-Addo’s directive to ban all public gatherings in the next 30 days so as to control the spread of the deadly coronavirus in Ghana.

A statement from the Traditional Council further indicated that ‘All public engagements by Nananom within the Kwahu Traditional Council are canceled. Akwasidae should be celebrated with minimal contacts and restricted to indoor traditional ceremonies’.

Some residents in the Kwahu area in the Eastern Region earlier made a strong appeal to authorities to call off the annual festival arguing:

‘The huge number of patrons excepted at the Kwahu Easter celebration could easily aid the spread of the coronavirus’.
