Some NPP members of parliament (MPs) on Friday, January 15 denied themselves the comfort of their beds to enter parliament house as early as 4am just to occupy the majority side of the house.

The 8th Parliament was expected to reconvene at 10am today after rising on January 7.

By convention, the political party with the highest number of representatives in Parliament is described as the majority caucus and it sits at the right hand side of the Speaker.

Both the NPP and NDC have 137 elected MPs.

The MP for Fomena Constituency, Andrew Asiamah Amoako who is an Independent candidate has officially told the Speaker, Alban Bagbin that he will do business with the NPP.

Based on his alliance, the Speaker on Friday afternoon declared the NPP together with the Independent candidate as the ‘majority group in Parliament‘.
