Actor Prince David Osei has expressed regrets for campaigning for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2020 elections.
The actor, in the run up to the 2020 general elections asked Ghanaians to vote for then candidate Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP because they enjoyed free water and subsidies on electricity as part of the COVID-19 relief package.
Akufo-Addo consequently won the 2020 Presidential election.
But two months after being sworn-in, the NPP government has categorically stated that the people must payback all the freebies.
The government has introduced new taxes to settle every debt incurred during the peak of COVID-19 pandemic.
Prince David Osei has boldly criticised the move saying it makes some of them who campaigned for the NPP ‘mindless’.
He said ‘If we campaigned for #4More4Nana to do more on the premise of free water&electricity during the pandemic and we turn around to tax the people, then it makes some of us who championed the course look mindless!’
A section of the public have attacked Prince David Osei on his choice of words, particularly the use of the adjective ‘mindless’ in his social media post to express his disappointment in the ruling government.
Some people opined that the actor was too harsh on President Akufo-Addo although his concerns are genuine.
‘Mindless: adjective. If you describe a person or group as mindless, you mean that they are stupid or do not think about what they are doing.’
