A 26-year-old man received severe beatings to the point of death after he was caught stealing a pot of stew, meat and other items in a cluster of houses at Agape, a suburb of Wassa Akropong in the Western Region.
The incident occurred on Thursday, a market day in the Wassa Amanfi Municipality.
The suspected thief identified as Kobby is reported to have carried out his operation when most people had left home to do business.
In one incident, Kasatintin.com has learnt that Kobby broke into the kitchen of one Madam Akua Manu and ate the boiled rice and stew she had prepared for her family.
He also chewed the meat that Akua Manu purposely reserved to cook food for the family the next day.
Not-fully-satisfied Kobby again prepared gari ‘soakings’, messed up the victim’s kitchen and stole her MultiTV decoder as well.
Sister of Akua Manu returned home and got alarmed by the dogs which were barking incessantly in the next house.
She saw Kobby carrying out another operation over there. She then shouted to draw the attention of the people around.
The young man was consequently arrested and subjected to severe beatings.
He has been handed over to the Police for further action.
In related news, Abdullah Gedo, popularly known as ‘Duley’ has been stoned to death by some residents of Jerusalem, a suburb of Tema Newtown for allegedly stealing a cat.
Information say a community patrol in the area caught the suspect with his goodies and started hitting him with concrete slabs which led him bleeding to death.
