Love for cat meat has caused the death of a young man at Tema Sunday dawn.

Abdullah Gedo, popularly known as ‘Duley’ has been stoned to death by some residents of Jerusalem, a suburb of Tema Newtown for allegedly stealing a cat.

Information say a community patrol in the area caught the suspect with his goodies and started hitting him with concrete slabs which led him bleeding to death.

Duley was was found in a pool of blood with the dead cat and concrete slabs beside him.

One Emmanuel Adjei said he saw some four people trying to resuscitate the deceased while visiting the public toilet about 4am.


According to Adjei, he got closer and realized he knew the suspect. He then rushed to inform the family about the alarming incident.

Some residents say the stealing of cats is rampant in the area, claiming not less than 10 cats get missing on weekly basis.


The body of Duley has since been deposited at the police hospital morgue.

In a related news, an Indian man has been jailed 20 years for killing a neighbour’s dog to prepare hot pepper light soup.

According to information gathered by, the convict whose name is translated in English as ‘Lucky’ knocked down a the dog early Monday morning whiles reversing his car.

Prosecutors said the incident happened whiles the owner of the dog had gone to work and it was expected that Lucky would report the matter to the police.

Instead, Lucky wrapped up the dead dog in a polythene bag, rushed it to his kitchen and called his friends to help him to prepare pepper soup with the dead animal. CLICK here to read the full story.
