Latest information reaching Kasatintin.com indicates that a chief in the Ashanti Region of Ghana has committed suicide after he lost an amount of GHC 120,000 in sports betting.
The late chief, based in the Asante Akyem North District used the money which belongs to cocoa farmers in the area to place the bet on some matches in the ongoing AFCON competition in Cameroon and lost bitterly.
He was sure of a big win as the betting odds were given to him by a reliable sports betting guru.
As it turned out, the scorelines of the teams he spent the GHC 120,000 on were disappointing.
The deceased is claimed to be the treasurer of the cocoa farmers group in Asante Akyem North and held the entire contributions of members in his coffers.
He allegedly took his life due to the disgrace he has brought upon himself and his inability to raise the money he used for the bet.
