Military Personnel Attached To Speaker Alban Bagbin’s Office Withdrawn

Military personnel attached to the office of the Speaker of Ghana Parliament, Alban Bagbin have reportedly been withdrawn.

Local news website, Citinewsroom.com stated that a letter from the Chief of Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), Major General NP Andoh to the Speaker said the five officers were attached ‘without proper procedure.’

The officers namely WO1 Jafaru Bunwura, WOII Apugiba Awine David, S/Sgt Agbley Prosper and Sgt. Bonney Prince, according to the report Kasatintin News has sighted online have been serving Bagbin’s office since he became Speaker in January 2021.

‘It is humbly requested that the personnel are withdrawn with effect from 14 January 2022 while efforts are made to regularize their attachment’, portions of the alleged letter read.

It is unknown if an alternative security arrangements have been made for the office of the Rt. Hon. Speaker, Alban S.K. Bagbin as steps are taken to regularize the process at GAF.

Pro-government news website, Daily Guide has also reported on the withdrawal of the military personnel at the office of the Speaker of Parliament.
