News of former Kumasi Asante Kotoko player Augustine Sefah been ordained as a fetish priest has caused a stir on social media.
The midfielder hang his boots as a professional footballer prior to the start of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season.
A photo trending fast on social media showed a man, thought to be Augustine Sefah dressed up in a white cloth and with a leaf rope tied around his neck. He had powder spread all over his body.
The speculation out there is that Sefah who is currently without a club after leaving Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC has been initiated as a chief priest.
Reacting to the news, Augustine Sefah denied being the fetish priest in the widely circulated photo.
He however admitted that he bears strong resemblance to the person in the viral image.
‘Even myself the very first time I saw the picture I was contemplating where I might have gone to do such a thing, but when I zoomed into the picture before I realized it’s not me’, Sefah told GhanaSportspge in an interview sighted by Kasatintin.com.
He blamed his former teammates for sharing the photo on social media.
‘I know nothing about it’ Sefa insisted ‘It’s not me, I don’t even know the person and I don’t know how the thing kept circulating like that.
He added ‘Martin Antwi sent it first to me on WhatsApp and Kofi Owusu used it for his status then people started circulating it on Facebook. People started congratulating me for becoming a chief priest or whatever, but I don’t know anything about what is going on’.
