The Asankragwa Police have declared Ghanaian pastor based in Enchi in the Western Region wanted for attempting to murder one nurse, Rosemond Tandoh who sought spiritual help from him.
40-year-old Pastor Kenneth Mensah alias Obrempong, who is head of the Mega Word Chapel International in Enchi is said to have duped the woman of GH₵ 40,000 cash (equivalent to US$ 6,403) and again attempted to set her on fire while she was asleep.
According to information, the victim was preparing to travel to the UK and Obrempong persuaded her to present the money — she had budgeted for the travel — for spiritual cleansing since witches were following her.
Rosemond Tandoh went to the bank on January 4, 2022 and withdrew GH₵ 40,000 from her bank account to solve the spiritual issue the pastor had described.
At about 2am the next day, the pastor (suspect) arrived in the woman’s family house at Kwesibokro and slept over.
During the spiritual exercise, Pastor Mensah asked Rosemond to give the money to him, which she obliged.
He then asked her to face the wall and recite certain words after him same time he prepared some concoction.
Whiles in the room together, Obrempong allegedly mixed some herbs in an unknown drink and asked the woman to drink it.
She suddenly felt unconscious after taking the drink.
Pastor Mensah then locked Rosemond inside the room, set the house ablaze and bolted with the GH₵ 40,000.
Rosemond was saved by her neighbours.
The Mega Word Chapel International leader, Pastor Kenneth Mensah has been put on the Ghana Police wanted list on the charge of ‘Attempting to commit crime (murder)’.
He was last seen in Asankragwa on January 6, 2022.
Police believe he is hiding in Accra, Tema, Cape Coast, Enchi, Kumasi and Elubo.
Members of the public with information on the whereabout of Pastor Kenneth Mensah should call the police ASAP.
