The Ghana Football Association (GFA) may dissolve the Black Stars team that played in the 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon.
Ghana failed to reach round of 16 stage of the tournament when Comoros beat them 3-2 on Tuesday, January 18.
A lot of football enthusiasts and pundits are unhappy with the poor performance of the senior national team.
The latest figure to comment on the abysmal performance of the team in 2021 AFCON is Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe,former GFA President, who has called for the dissolution of the Black Stars.
Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe has also suggested the appointment of a new coach.
He advised that the new coach should be given the space to work and select the players he believes can deliver on the pitch.
Speaking on why Ghana should have new set of players for the Black Stars, Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe said on the Good Evening Ghana TV show that ‘That is what should be done now because what I saw this evening was so disturbing.
‘You can see that for the first time we have players who were not focusing on what they were doing because some of the goals that came in are very disturbing. If you have a good defense and you are really focused some of the balls will not get in the net at all’.
‘I believe strongly the Black Stars itself should be dissolved completely and then we hire a very competent coach. Such competent coach should be given the opportunity to select the boys himself and also this must be done very quickly because I believe next year, we are going to have another AFCON’.
Already, some Ghanaians have called on the Football Association to sack Coach Milovan Rajevac.
But coach Milo has explained that he can not be blamed so much, saying;
‘We don’t have the same team like 2010. Not enough time for preparations. We don’t have a player like Asamoah Gyan’.
