The Bogoso explosion has claimed more lives and destroyed 95% of structures in the community the bizarre incident occured on Thursday, January 20.
Latest information confirms that 17 people have died while 59 injured people have been rescued from the accident site in the Western part of Ghana as at 5pm Thursday.
Out of the 59 injured persons, 42 are receiving treatment whereas the rest are in critical condition.
Eyewitnesses claim that the motor bike attempted to overtake the mining truck and incidentally got trapped under it.
The truck driver who is said to have been moving from Tarkwa towards the Chirano mines unknowingly pulled the bike along and the sparks generated caused the explosion.
Rescue efforts are underway. Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has visited Bogoso Community to commiserate with the people and family who have lost loved ones.
In a viral video sighted by Kasatintin News, a man is heard saying he cannot find his children and wife after the blast.
