Mahama Speaks On Bawumia’s ‘Arrest’

Former President John Dramani Mahama has jabbed Dr Mahamudu Bawumia over his poor understanding of the economy thereby plunging the country into serious economic hardship.

Dr Bawumia, then running mate of candidate Nana Akufo-Addo (now President of the Republic of Ghana) had bitterly criticised Mahama over the continues depreciating value of the Ghana Cedi and the general economic hardship in the country at that time.

He branded the NDC government incompetent and further set 170 questions to expose their ineptitude and also to justify why Akufo-Addo and the NPP were the best option for Ghanaians.

‘If the fundamentals are weak, the exchange rate will expose you’, Bawumia mocked and added he had arrested the Ghana Cedis and put the keys in the pocket of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) so the local currency can stabilise for good.

Being in power for a little over 6 years, reality checks appear to have set in. The economic hardship has become unbearable.

According to Ex-President Mahama, the current state of Ghana’s economy has never been witnessed in the history of the country.

Making reference to Bawumia’s own previous comments, Mahama said ‘Daily price increases, fuel price adjustments and nose-diving currency has rather arrested the person who said he had arrested it’.

The dollar has rather arrested him. So, we are looking for him, we can’t find him. We will ask the IGP if he has the key so that we could find where our Vice-President was’.

The Former President was speaking at the launch of TEIN App on Monday, 21 March 2022 at the University for Professional Studies Accra (UPSA).

This is the more reason you should never trust any Ghanaian politician.
