Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah has said that devoted christians are free to drink alcohol as the Bible is not against it.
Owusu Bempah argued that, it is baseless for anyone to assume that christians can not take alcoholic beverages.
He noted that the Bible explictly speaks against alcohol abuse or boozing not drinking of alcohol.
‘Read the Bible carefully and you’ll realise Jesus did not condemn alcohol during his days on earth. At one wedding ceremony, He prayed over water and turned it into wine–not Fanta or Coke’, the Ghanaian pastor stressed in an interview on Accra-based Okay FM.
Owusu Bempah urged christians to drink responsibly.
‘Let us draw a distinction between drinking alcohol and boozing’, he stated ‘When you booze from alcohol consumption the erratic behaviour you are likely to show is something that does not please God. But when you drink and you are not getting yourself drunk, nobody can stop you or accuse you of sin’.
The Glorious Word and Power Ministry International leader further explained that;
‘If somene says it is wrong to booze, I understand. But I will strongly oppose gree anyone who says drinking alcohol is a sin.
‘Personally,I don’t drink but it doesn’t mean I should condemn a drunkard’.
