Many Shocked As Gov’t Releases ¢25 Million To Build Cathedral For The Nation

MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa shows the alleged letter authorising payment

West Africa country Ghana has through its Ministry of Finance allegedly authorised the release of GH¢25million to construct the biggest cathedral for the nation.

Portions of a letter dated 31st March, 2022 and addressed to the Controller and Accountant General Department (CAGD) read;

‘Authority is hereby granted to release the sum of GH¢25,000,000.00 (Twenty Five Million Ghana Cedis) as additional seed money to the National Cathedral Secretariat for the construction of the National Cathedral for part payment of the outstanding claim from RIBADE Limited’.

In July 2021, Ken Ofori-Atta , Minister of Finance begged one million Ghanaians to donate GH₵100 each month through the short code *979# as a way of ‘adding their names to the historic coalition that would build the National Cathedral to the glory of God, and the edification of our nation’.

It does appear the appeal for funds didn’t catch on with the general public.

‘Will the National Cathedral draw God very closer to the people of Ghana so they can speak with Him directly’, one netizen asked.
