It is not advisable for women to engage in missionary sex position during pregnancy.
Senior Midwifery Officer at the Tema Health Centre, Ruby Naa Ago Larbi Mensah Ansah–Tagoe, has revealed that missionary style in a way interrupts the flow of oxygen to the unborn child.
The midwife explained on GBC Breakfast show monitored by Kasatintin.com that ‘When you lay at your back, you deprive the baby of oxygen as the oxygen is zero no matter what stage of pregnancy else you are indirectly killing your baby’.
Mrs Ansah-Tagoe said every stage of pregnancy determines the suitable sex position for the woman.
The pregnant woman can perform d0ggy, the cowgirl, reverse cowgirl and spooning in the second trimester and she be on top of her partner every time.
She continued ‘The first trimester, we have the scissors, that is when the woman would lie down on her side and the man lays down as well, and they would have sex, meeting one way. There are other styles like at the edge, leap frog, sit scissor amongst others’.
For pregnant women whose partners may not be around regularly, they have been advised to take a walk and drink a lot of coconut water.
