Frog meat is a special delicacy in Namibia.
Namibians collect the giant African bullfrogs (Pyxicephalus adspersus) locally known as ‘efuma’ or ‘omafuma’ for food during the rainy season.
The rainy season, which has started in January this year, could last for 3 to 4 months.
The type of frog much eaten by Namibians is found to be poisonous and causes kidney failures which locals commonly refer to as ‘Oshiketakata’.
