Sad News Hit Ghana! Alhaji Jawula Is Dead–Cause Of Death, Wife And Children

Alhaji Jawula, former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has died at age 73.

Alhaji Jawula (officially called Lepowura MND Jawula) would have celebrated his 74th birthday on May 2, 2023.

According to multiple sources, he has been ill for some time now. He was first admitted to the University of Ghana Medical Centre in Accra and later flown to a medical facility in the US for further treatment where passed away.

‘Our thoughts are with his family, friends and all who knew him’, the GFA wrote in a post on Twitter.


Alhaji Jawula served as Chairman of the GFA from 1997 to 2001.

Under his leadership, the country’s U-17 team placed 2nd and 3rd respectively in the 1997 and 1999 World Cup. The U-20 team also came 2nd in the 2001 World Cup.


Jawula was chairman of the Real Tamale United (RTU) Management Committee and owned a football club, Guan United.
