Ugandan lady, Fortunate Kyarikunda who dumped her lover after spending his money has been ordered by a magistrate court to refund every penny spent on her.
Kyarikunda backed out of marrying Richard Tumwine as soon she completed law school, saying he is too old for her.
She is expected to refund 9.4 million shillings (approximately $80,000) to Tumwine as the total money he invested in her education.
According to court documents, Tumwine and Kyarikunda started a romantic relationship in 2015. Their love affair began at Kiringa Primary School where Kyarikunda had come to do her teaching practice.The plaintiff was a teacher in the same school.
Kyarikunda accepted a marriage proposal from Richard Tumwine in 2018. Along the line, she enrolled in the law school and Tumwine committed Shs 9.4 million to support her.
On 10th January, 2022, the pair planned their marriage ceremony together, drew a budget for it and fixed February 2022 as date for the ceremony.
But Fortunate Kyarikunda later turned against the plaintiff saying she cannot marry an old man. Hence, disappointed Tumwine ran to court to seek compensation.
