A new chief who was being carried around in town as part of rituals to install him has fallen down from his palanquin.
A video shared by GraphicOnline and sighted by Kasatintin.com captured the moment the chief of Yamonransa Nkusukum Traditional Area in the Central Region fell from his palanquin during the coronation.
The carriers of the palanquin lost control as they wheeled Nana Kwesi Gyasi I, privately known as Davis Mac Iyalla on their neck through the streets of Yamonransa Nkusukum.
Iyalla, who is a renowned LGBT rights advocate, was appointed the Amankorehen,(development chief) of Yamonransa Nkusukum, where the incident occurred.
In Akan tradition, it is a bad sign if a chief falls from a palanquin.
The occurrence could mean an impending death, tragedy or an abrupt end of the reign of the chief.
