Alhaji Hardi Tufeiru, who is the Member of Parliament for Nanton and also doubles as the Deputy Agric Minister is trending on social media after he allegedly put his life on the line to enable his party to pass three new revenue bills in parliament.
According to multiple reports, Alhaji Tufeiru was involved in a deadly motor accident while on his way to parliament on Friday, 31st March, 2023.
Viral photos showed the MP’s vehicle completely damaged and lying by the roadside with the wheels turned upside down.
An ambulance carried him straight to parliament house to cast his vote on the new tax bill before being rushed to the hospital for emergency care.
One local media tweeted ‘Tonight the first of 3 revenue bills (Excise Duty Amendment Bill, 2022) has been passed by 137-136 majority decision. Big twist is that the MP for Nanton Alhaji Hardi Tufeiru was made to vote first before being rushed to the hospital after a serious motor accident early today’.
