More Kenyan men are choosing vasectomy as the best form of birth control in recent times.

The 2023 Economic Survey report released by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) indicated that the number of men who have undergone sterilization vasectomy has more than doubled in just one year.

Patronage of vasectomy, a surgical procedure that permanently prevents pregnancy by cutting or sealing the tubes that carry a man’s sperm has been low worldwide as most men consider it as a form of castration.

But Kenyan men are changing the narrative.

According to the latest Economic Survey report, which examined the use of modern contraceptives in health facilities from 2018 to 2022, Kenyan men who chose vasectomy rose from 248 to 557.

All the same, family planning (FP) injections remained the most popular method of contraception in 2022, 2.6 million Kenyans chose it, followed by implant insertions, which had 1.1 million clients.   SOURCE: Kasatintin.com
