At least 16 people are feared dead and other 40 passengers have been injured in a gory accident at Gomoa Okyereko on the Accra-Cape Coast Highway in the Central Region.
A petrol tanker filled with oil and a Yutong passenger bus were involved in the Tuesday dawn accident. The two vehicles had a head-on collision.
It has been revealed that the bus which was on its way from Abidjan to Buduburam occasionally veered off his lane all through the trip.
‘So he [tanker driver] rather came into the lane of the Yutong because at the time the Yutong driver had also entered his lane..The impact was great on the passenger sides of both vehicles, a situation which got the tanker driver mashed. Other passengers on the passenger side of the Yutong were also dismembered, in fact, they were cut into pieces’, Winneba Fire Service Commander DO II Kwesi Hughes said in an interview on JoyNews monitored by Kasatintin.com.
