Ghana’s Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah has responded to news report about the theft case at her residence in Abelemkpe, which was allegedly undertaken by two of her househelps.
The two accused persons and three other accomplices are facing trial at the High Court.
Madam Dapaah issued a brief statement on 21st July, 2023 on reports ‘suggesting that I own one million dollars, three hundred thousand euros and millions of cedis which have been stolen from my house’.
Already, a section of the public and some governance experts have called on Madam Dapaah to resign and be investigated about the source of the huge cash she kept ‘under her bed’.
But the Minister said ‘There are noticeable inconsistencies between what is being discussed in the public domain and the thrust of the original complaint on the matter’, and she is ‘taking steps to examine the origins of the inconsistencies and will provide a detailed response in the coming days’.
