A Nigerian woman identified as Lydia in Delta State who requires urgent surgery to save her life has declined blood transfusion at the hospital.
Lydia says she is a Jehovah Witness and for that matter, it is against her belief to accept blood from another person.
Giving more gist about the incident,philanthropist Chigozie Effe said in a Facebook post on Friday, July 21, 2023 that;
‘Lydia has bluntly refused to accept blood transfusions saying it’s against her belief as a JEHOVAH WITNESS. However she opted for a blood capsule which didn’t go well with the doctors due to the time and the urgency of the proposed surgery’.
‘Doctors handling her case in Delta said she needs five pints of blood in order to kick off with the surgery. We are in confusion as to how to handle this case as the doctors both at the private and public hospitals said her blood is low and cant be worked upon and time is running out. What do we do?’.
