Gabon’s deposed president, Ali Bongo has been released from house arrest.
The military which removed him from power last month said Bongo is free to leave the country for medical treatment.
Colonel Ulrich Manfoumbi,Gabon’s military spokesman explained on natinal television Wednesday evening that ‘Given his state of health, the former President of the Republic Ali Bongo Ondimba is free to move about. He may, if he wishes, travel abroad for medical checkups’.
Uganda’s tabloid newspaper, Red Pepper gave an interesting twist to the statement with this fiery headline: ‘Former Gabonese President Ali Bongo is free to bonk or leave the country.The military junta members have allowed him to…’.
