Former Ghanaian member of parliament (MP) Daniel Okyem Aboakye has died at age 49.
Okyem Aboagye passed away on Saturday dawn, September 23, 2023 at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) after a short illness.
The former MP for the constituency of Bantama was rushed to the hospital on Friday, and died the next day.
The late legislator was a member of the New Patriotic Party and served as MP for one term (2017 to 2021). He was a member of the Finance Committee in parliament during this period.
Okyem Aboagye was a businessman. He established popular transport company, 2M Express which ply the Accra-Kumasi route.
He started his career as the branch manager of SINAPI ABA TRUST in 1998. He was the project manager of Opportunity International from 2003 to 2006.
Between 2008 to 2012, Okyem Aboagye was the financial controller of Globe Union in the US and CEO of MGI Microfinance.
