Kasatintin.com has learnt that Emmanuel Cudjoe, the National Deacon of the Church of Pentecost who was reported to have been kidnapped by armed men in Johannesburg last Sunday has been released by the kidnappers.
Ghana’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Charles Owiredu conveyed the good news on X, and said ‘The Church of Pentecost Deacon/Elder was freed last night. He is with his family now’.
The headquarters of the church in Ghana earlier called on members to fast and pray for three days to appeal to God for the safe release of missing Elder Emmanuel Cudjoe, who is a prominent banker.
On Sunday, 29th October, 2023, armed men abducted the Ghanaian church elder after they stormed the Church of Pentecost premises during a live Sunday service.
They robbed the congregation of their monies and other valuables while they took the church elder to an undisclosed location.
Ghanaian journalist based in South Africa, Yakubu Moro explained in an interview on JoyNews that it appears the main objective of the gunmen’s operation was only to come for this church leader, but they took advantage to rob the other church members.
He revealed that ‘During the first service, that was the service that included the elder who was kidnapped. And then, according to the investigations, when these robbers arrived at the premises of the church, they were demanding for the elder, who is an integral member of the church.
‘And also, he is working with one of the banks in South Africa. So, it’s sort of like a plotted plan. They came in with a purpose, that is kidnapping one person, so they took advantage of the situation to rob fellow congregants of their belongings… and then they left with the elder of the church’.SOURCE: Kasatintin.com
