Very Sad: Ghana School Feeding Programme Boss Dead

 

The National Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) is reported dead.

Madam Gertrude Quashigah died on Sunday November 12, 2023, Adomonline.com said citing a family source confirmed the news of her passing.

The deceased is a staunch member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and wife of late Major Courage E. K Quashigah (Rtd), a former Minister in the erstwhile John Agyekum Kufuor administration.

Madam Quashigah was appointed as boss of the GSFP Secretariat on December 24,2019.

In May 18, 2021, the Ministry of Gender,Children and Social Protection sacked Madam Quashigah from office. Official document did not give any reason for the termination of her appointment.

She was however recalled to her position in the next few days. The Gender Ministry described the incident as an ‘administrative error’.

The basic concept of the school feeding programme is to provide children in public primary schools with one hot nutritious meal, prepared from locally grown foodstuffs, on every school-going day.
