Vice president Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who is seeking to become the next president of Ghana, has indicated that citizens will soon be able to purchase any car of their choice on credit using their Ghana Card.
Speaking at the KNUST 57th congregation on Friday, November, 24, 2023, Dr Bawumia said;
‘The Ghana Card will also become the anchor for a credit system in Ghana and it will take a couple of car manufacturers in Ghana notably Solar Taxi to give cars on credit to people…all they will need at the point of transaction will be your Ghana card and they will give you a car and then you pay over time’.
Since his statement, pro-government media, Wontumi Radio has started series of programmes to convince the public that Bawumia’s idea is the best and it should be implemented.
A presenter of the station revealed that, they spoke to one Uber driver named Kofi Patrick, who announced that he recently acquired a new saloon car at the cost of GHC 110,000 (approximately $9,212.73) without paying a dime but by using his Ghana Card.
According to the Wontumi Radio presenter, the driver claimed that the car dealers only asked for his digital address (Ghana Post GPS) and Ghana Card details, and within 24 hours, the car company offered him the vehicle and informed him that, he will make instalment payments within a period of 4 years.
