A deceased candidate, Manasseh Addison Sackey, popularly known as Obour has won the district level elections at Tebrebe Electoral Area in the Western Region.
Obour, who died 9 days before the election obtained 860 votes, beating two other contenders, Michael Dompreh and Bernard Obeng.
The deceased was the incumbent Assembly member for the the Tebrebe Electoral Area. He was also the Deputy Constituency Secretary for the opposition NDC and the head teacher of Aboponiso MA School.
He got drowned while on a campaign tour to one of the villages in his electoral area on Tuesday, December 5, 2023.Manasseh’s predecessor died through the same tragic incident.
Reports suggest that Bernard Obeng who is a member of the governing NPP and the candidate with the second highest votes could be declared as the Assembly member-elect for the Tebrebe Electoral Area.
Manasseh’s wife, Vida addressed an ecstatic crowd and thanked them for honouring her late husband, reports Adwinpa FM’s Eric Bhaiden (alias Nana Kay).
