Ghana’s Afua Asantewaa and her husband Kofi Aduonum have gained wide media attention for days now following Afua’s historic journey to break a Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon by an individual.
That record is currently held by an Indian, Sunil Waghmare, who sang for 105 hours in March 2012.
Afua Asantewaa set a new world record after singing for 126 hours 55 minutes starting midnight of December 24,2023 through to December 29,2023. The Guinness World Records are yet to assess her performance within the specific rules of the challenge and pass their final judgement.
Although, Afua Asantewaa hasn’t been officially declared as the new Guinness World Record holder, she sneaked out to chill with fans on Friday night at the Sing-a-thon afterparty event jointly organised by the Ghana Tourism Authority and Joy Prime. The event took place at the Akwaaba Village in Accra.
Kofi Aduonum told the media he has not slept for the past 6 days because of the sing-a-thon.
Mr Aduonum, not surprised by the incredible achievement of his wife, Afua Asantewaa said ‘I know she is a tough personality, a tough character, so I did not doubt her a bit’. SOURCE: Kasatintin.com
