‘Don’t Come Back’— South Africans Threaten Goalkeeper After Team Lost To Nigeria At AFCON Semi-finals

Nigerian goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, who plays for Chippa United in South Africa, has reportedly received threats from South African fans following his outstanding performance against the country at the semi-final stage of the AFCON tournament.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria qualified for the AFCON finals having defeated South African side Bafana Bafana on penalty shootouts on Wednesday night.

It appears some South Africans are unhappy with Nwabali’s role in preventing the Bafana Bafana team from reaching the finals.

They have therefore allegedly warned the Super Eagles goalie not to return to his club in South Africa after the AFCON tournament.

Former Super Eagles international Idah Peterside revealed the threats in an interview on Channels Television on Thursday,

He said ‘The biggest problem we have had is that we have gotten some messages where people have sent messages to the goalkeeper threatening him. I hear some people are telling him not to come back to South Africa since you didn’t want us to score. We have not heard of any violence. but just threats. They have been threatening him and threatening some people’. SOURCE: Kasatintin.com
