The latest survey conducted by the Ghana Statistical Services (GSS) has revealed that there are more male virgins in Ghana than female virgins, and they are between the ages of 15 and 24.
Findings from the GSS 2022 Ghana Demographic and Health Survey (GDHS) show that 53.8% of never-married men (of age 15-24) have never engaged in sexual intercourse.
The report also indicates that proportion of never-married young men who have never had sexual intercourse declined from 60% in 2008 to 53% in 2022.
But approximately 49.8% (or nearly half) of unmarried girls aged 15-24 have not engaged in sexual intercourse, according to the 2022 GDHS report.
In perspective, the survey highlighted that 50% of never-married women (aged 15-24) had engaged in pre-marital sex, with only 47% of men between that age range engaging in same.
It has emerged that more young girls (15-19years) are engaging in reckless sex. The survey reveals that never married women within this age group 33.9% (1 out of every 3) have ever had sex. SOURCE: Kasatintin.com
