Social media users are engaged in heated debate after a university professor was spotted carrying Asantehene’s sacred Golden Stool also known as ‘Sikadwa’
Some netizens are actually surprised, but shown extreme interest in knowing more about why the professor would care less about his status in life and decide to carry the sacred chair at the Mahyia Palace in Kumasi.
Benjamin Effah Amponsah shared the professor’s photo on X and indicated that ‘This man carrying sikadwa is a professor of human biology at KNUST. Ahenkwa, yesom’.
The Asante monarch, Otumfuo Osei II celebrated his 25th anniversary (silver jubilee) and Adaekese on Sunday, May 12,2024 in Kumasi where for the first time in history, the ‘Golden Stool’ was displayed in public.
One social media user Kofi Antwi responded to the post, saying ‘He’s doing his sacred duty, lecturer is his profession, shdnt be confused’.
‘A great man being so proud of his culture ???? massive respect’, M.I added.
The Kingpin also raised a controversial question, maybe for his lack of understanding on the Akan culture. He said ‘Who did the welding on the stool?? The gods or human?? did gods know how to weld?. either they lied to us, or someone long swap the stool’.
However, Kingpin has known no p£ace after flowing his comments on X. SOURCE: Kasatintin.com
