Malawi’s Vice President Saulos Chilima and nine other people have died in a plane accident on Monday,10th June,2024.
Official report released on Tuesday said the small military aircraft they were traveling in crashed due to bad weather in a mountainous region in the north of the country.
Giving further information about the tragic incident, President Lazarus Chakwera stated that the wreckage of the plane that went missing early Monday morning had been located after a search of more than 24 hours in thick forests and hilly terrain near the city of Mzuzu.
He added that the wreckage was found near a hill and the plane had been ‘completely destroyed’, with everyone killed on impact.
Saulos Chilima was 51years, married and left behind two children. He holds a PhD in Knowledge Management, and held key leadership roles in multinational companies like Unilever and Coca Cola prior to his political career.
Chilima is described by colleagues in the ruling government as a ‘performer’, ‘workaholic’ and ‘an achiever’. SOURCE: Kasatintin.com
