REJOINDER: “KOFORIDUA TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY, WHY”
Our attention has been drawn to a Facebook post with the caption “Koforidua Technical University, Why” which appeared on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 and we are compelled to write this rejoinder to address the misconceptions about medical examinations being conducted by Koforidua Technical University (KTU).
It is regrettable that you published a one-sided story without duly taking steps to seek views from the University authorities for an objective account. You merely relied on the information provided by a faceless person who claims to be a student of KTU to disparage the good image the institution has built in the twenty-seven (27) years of its existence.
To set the records straight, medical examination exercise at Koforidua Technical University as being done in other tertiary institutions, is a mandatory requirement for all first-year students.
The University Clinic has no X–ray facilities. Therefore, students are allowed to undertake the X–ray examinations at accredited Health Centres equipped with the facilities at a fee. Please note that Koforidua Technical University does notdetermine the fees being charged by the service providers and therefore the claim of Extortion is a figment of imagination of the nameless individual.
It will interest you to note that, Koforidua Technical University is an institution of higher learning with the aim of providing tertiary level technical education through the development of career-focused skills in collaboration with industry.
In view of the above stated facts and circumstances, we request that this rejoinder is published in order to put the matter in proper perspective with the same prominence for your esteemed readers. Our doors are always open for dialogue. It will be appreciated if you verify the facts from authorized officers of the University before the publication of such sensitive matters in future.
