Chef Smith’s Guinness World Record Certificate Fake? See Why He Has Been Arrested

Ghanaian Chef, Ebenezer Smith, better known as Chef Smith has reportedly been arrested during a press conference and dumped in La Police cells in Accra.

Chef Smith was arrested on Tuesday, July 2, same day he announced that he has officially been confirmed as the new Guinness World record holder for the longest cooking marathon.

‘The longest cooking marathon (individual) is 802 hours 25 minutes and was achieved by Ebenezer Smith (Ghanaian) in Spintex, Accra, Ghana. From 1 February to 6 March, 2024’, read the inscription on his record certificate.

Meanwhile, some netizens have stirred controversy about the credibility of Chef Smith’s supposed Guinness World Record achievement. They have pointed out some discrepancies in his certificate.

But the Guinness World Record have stated on their website that the longest cooking marathon by an individual currently held by Alan Fisher is ‘currently inactive and no applications are being accepted for it’.

On the Chef’s arrest, Chef Smith’s manager, Benny explained that the incident was occasioned by musician Nana Boro, who claimed to be owed some money by Mr. Smith.

Speaking on Hitz FM Benny said ‘A few minutes into the programme[press conference] some people came to us. One identified himself as Nana Boro, the musician and one or two people. Apparently, their issue was that they were part of the old team that one way or the other supported Chef Smith during the cook-a-thon and that Chef Smith is owing them and until he settles them, he won’t allow the press conference to come on’.

The manager added that despite pleas to resolve the matter after the ceremony, the security personnel did not budge, leading to the cook’s eventual arrest. SOURCE:
