The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) may soon withdraw services to communities where members of the public have attacked their officers who were in line of duty.
In recent times, fire fighters have been badly harassed while in the process of attending to fires.
In Dansoman, some four fire officers were allegedly subjected to severe beatings after they were unable to save a Porsche house from burning down.
Reports suggested that the GNFS personnel rushed to the fire scene empty-handed. They did not go along with their fire truck.
In a similar incident, some residents of Alaba in Kumasi physically attacked GNFS officers claiming the officers arrived very late at the fire scene.
But the GNFS will no longer tolerate such behaviours from the public.
The Head of Public Relations at the Ghana Fire Service, Desmond Ackah has condemned recent attacks on fire service personnel.
During a media interview, he served a strong warning to the public to desist from attacking GNFS officers. He stated that ‘If the attacks continue, what would happen is that, whenever there’s any fire that we believe that the people there are hooligans, we’ll not come. We do not cause the fires in the first place’. Watch video here.SOURCE: Kasatintin.com
