President Nana Akufo-Addo has dismissed Dodzie Numekevor, the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) with immediate effect.
Numekevor was sacked on Tuesday, September 17,2024 allegedly for his inability to explain the circumstances which led CAF to suspend Ghana from playing the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers from home due to the poor conditions of pitches in the country.
Six days to the Black Stars’ match against Angola at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, the sporting facility was rented out for a church programme, worsening the sorry state of the stadium.
According to reports, the President is unhappy with the disgraceful and unprecedented banning of Ghanaian stadia from hosting Category ‘A’ football matches.
Even before CAF issued a ban on Ghana not to play international soccer at the Baba Yara Stadium, President Akufo-Addo had reportedly told the Sports Minister he will be held responsible if the national team plays any of its home matches outside of this country.
Many suspect the Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif may be fired soon in the same manner as the NSA boss. SOURCE: Kasatintin.com
