The international media have punched the President Nana Akufo-Addo for unveiling a statue of himself in the Western part of Ghana barely few months to the end of his term in office.
The BBC report read ‘Ghana’s outgoing President Nana Akufo-Addo has just unveiled a statue of himself while on a tour of the country’s Western Region.
But critics have called it “self glorification” and questioned its importance when several key projects remain incomplete’.
Nigeria’s biggest selling newspaper, The Punch also reported that ‘A statue in honour of Ghana’s outgoing President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has been unveiled in the Western Region of Ghana.
The statue was said to recognise his administration’s contributions to the region’s development.
Located outside the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi, the statue was unveiled during the President’s recent “Thank You” tour of the Western Region on Wednesday.
The unveiling of the statue has sparked reactions among Ghanaians on X.com, with many questioning its necessity.
