The Executive Director of Sexual Health Foundation, Dr. Samuel Amanamah has revealed that about 50% of men between the ages of 40 and 70 in Ghana are suffering from erectile dysfunction (ED) or are impotent.
Dr. Amanamah claimed that ‘most men between the ages of 40 and 70 have sexual dysfunctions due to diseases like diabetes and hypertension which are unknown to them’.
Technically, erectile dysfunction (impotence) is defined as the inability to get and keep an erection firm enough for sex.
The world is yet to discover a condition that is more devastating to a man’s ego than having an erectile dysfunction.
It is basic knowledge that apart from thirst, starvation, and sleep, sexual urge is the most powerful biological drive. So, how can a man live a comfortable life on earth by carrying a ‘dead manh00d’?
Dr. Amanamah, who is also a Sexapathologist admits that ‘the situation creates a lot of family destabilizations leading to broken homes’.
He advised men to check their diabetes and hypertension status regularly and also avoid self – medication when they have s*xual problems.
‘The bottom line is that sexual or erectile dysfunction can be treated, either at the mild, moderate or severe stage, no matter one’s age. One has to go the hospital, explain his condition and treatment will be administered to gain his erectile’.
Dr. Samuel Amanamah is reported to have made the revelation in his speech during a symposium on challenges of sexual dysfunction in men, on Sunday, September 20, 2020, in Kumasi.
