The senior national soccer team, the Black Stars are participating in the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) taking place in Egypt.
The team kicks off Group F encounter with Benin at the Ismailia Stadium on Tuesday.
It is a ‘d0 and d!e’ affair for the team at this year’s tournament because Ghana has not won the African Cup since 1982.

The Black Stars were crowned champions 37 years ago in Libya. They have won the Nations Cup four times whiles Egypt has won it 7 times.
I am neither a soccer fan nor a pundit, but I think Coach Kwesi Appiah, 58 has selected the best players for the 2019 AFCON tournament. These players have been sighted in a series of videos drumming and dancing around as if they were purposely camped to rehearse for a world singing competition.

All jokes aside, Kwesi Appiah should help Ghana qualify from the group stage and also win the tournament else Bishop Obinim’s Angels, ‘nimokafui and ayetefrem’ will be very angry not only with him but the whole nation.
Can the Black Stars win the 2019 AFCON tournament?
Well, I am not the one to predict that the Black Stars can’t go any where in the competition.

The so-called nation prophets (such as Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah, Prophet Kumchacha, Reindolph Oduro Gyebi (a.k.a Eagle Prophet) have not commented on the chances of the team yet. But what are they waiting you for?
Many have said that Ghana is not among AFCON 2019 favourites. As usual we live by faith, hoping the Black Stars will make a difference this time.
Can all ‘believers’ observe the following tips when watching any of the matches played by the national team?:
First, watch with two or more people around you. They will be of great help in case you experience a heart attack.

Secondly, do well to eat before watching each match. You will lose appetite should the team disappoint you. You don’t want to starve yourself eh?
Also, think twice before you place a bet on a Black Stars’ match. Don’t bet more than twenty Ghana cedis (GHC 20.00) even if you trust the ability of the team giving you a straight win. You will have no high blood pressure.
Again, remember we are in the era of ‘Dumsor’ (unpredictable electric power outage). Don’t forget to get yourself a standby generator.
Lastly, fully charge your mobile phone battery before the game. Better switch off your television and chat with friends on social media when the Black Stars’ game is boring.
Try and observe these simple tips, you will thank me later.
