The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has claimed victory for its presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo in the 2020 general elections.
At a press conference held in Accra on Tuesday December 8, the party said it has won majority in parliament.
John Boadu, NPP General Secretary announced that:
‘We now control three of the five regions in northern Ghana’.
Mr. Boadu rejected an earlier assertion by National Democratic Congress (NDC) that it had flipped many parliamentary seats and was on course to win the majority in the house.
The NPP projected that based on 87% of the votes they had collated, their candidate, President Akufo-Addo, was leading the presidential race by 52.72% while Mahama had 45.93%.
Mind you it is only the Electoral Commission which has the power to declare results and winner of the presidential election.
