President-elect John Mahama appears to have gained public trust for showing some level of commitment to stamp out corruption in Ghana.
Though he will be inaugurated on January 7,2025, Mahama has constituted a five-member committee for the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL), an initiative which is part of a broad base but impartial strategy to ensure accountability within the public service.
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa is the Chairman of the ORAL committee. Members of the committee are former Auditor-General, Daniel Domelovo, retired Commissioner of Police,Nathaniel Kofi Boakye, private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu, and investigative journalist, Raymond Archer.
Okudzeto Ablakwa has reassured Ghanaians that the team will not duplicate the work of existing state anti-corruption agencies.
In a social media post on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, he stated that ‘The ORAL Team held its first meeting at 2pm today and has resolved to work gratis.
We shall not be receiving salaries, allowances, per-diems or fuel coupons. None of our activities will come at a cost to the taxpayer.
We continue to count on your support, let’s do this for God and Country.Ghana First’.SOURCE: Kasatintin.com
