Madam Victoria Agbotui, the mother of former President Jerry John Rawlings, has passed on to eternity on Wednesday, September 24, 2020. She was 101 years.
Reports say Madam Agbotui suffered a short illness before her demise.
Her death has shocked not only the immediate family but the ordinary Ghanaian.
Rawlings’ mother has been a news maker in the last few years owing to the importance the Rawlings’ attached to her birthday celebrations. It’s always big.
But who really is Victoria Agbotui?
Madam Agbotui was born many years ago on September 9, 1919. She was not that prominent in the public space until 1979 when Rawlings came to power through a coup detat.
She served as the head of the catering department at the presidency until Rawlimgs left power.
Madam Agbotui gave birth to Ghana’s ex- Head of State, Jerry John Rawlings and was blessed with several grandchildren. She lived to see most of these grandchildren.
