Government workers who receive their salaries through SG Bank have not received their April 2025 salary.
On Monday,April 28,2025 the usual queues that form at the various banking halls of SG Bank on such an important day of the month were missing.
As at 12pm,Monday, government workers had not received the traditional SMS alert from the bank, informing them that April salary has hit their bank accounts.
Meanwhile, government workers who hold bank accounts at competing financial institutions such as GCB, ADB, Fidelity Bank and some rural banks were in high spirits as their salary had gone through successfully.
What could be wrong with SG Bank?
Customers are frustrated about the situation. The bank is yet to give an official statement on the matter.
At 10.54pm today, some customers received a text message from SG Bank but this had nothing to do with the salary delays:
‘Dear Customer, the Bank’s ATMs will be unavailable from 9.45am to 11.15am tomorrow ,29TH April for maintenance. We apologize for any inconvenience caused’.
However, an earlier notice the bank served its customers has provided a lead to why SG Bank may be struggling to honour payment despite possibly receiving full cash transfer from the Controller and Accountant General’s Department.
‘Dear Customer, Due to system upgrade, there may be some interruptions on our service on Saturday,12th and Sunday 13th April. Kindly bear with us’, SG Bank’s SMS alert dated 11th April,2025 read.
Some customers suspect that the bank suffered a high technical setback during the said upgrade and this has likely affected the payment of the April 2025 wages and salaries.
