Dr Ernest Kwamina Yedu Addison has been relieved of his duties as Governor of the Bank of Ghana.
Dr Johnson Asiamah has been appointed to replace him, Presidential Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu announced on Friday.
Addison,62 has has been asked to proceed on leave ahead of his official exit on March 31, 2025.He was appointed as the 15th Governor of the Bank of Ghana by Ex-President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in April 2017.
Dr Johnson Asiamah is a seasoned economist. He served as the Second Deputy Governor of the central bank from 2016 to 2017.
He has a PhD in Economics from the University of Southampton, UK.
Dr Asiamah is awaiting approval by the Council of State under President John Mahama’s government.
He has worked at the Bank of Ghana for over 23years specializing in monetary policy, financial stability regulation, and economic research.
