News coming in suggest that President John Mahama has scrapped three taxes considered as nuisance.
According to Ghanaian blogger Bongo Ideas, ‘President Mahama has effectively scrapped E-Levy, Betting Tax and COVID levy. Official announcement to be made during reading of budget by Finance Minister in March!’
Mahama had promised to remove such taxes during his campaign trail ahead of the 2024 general elections.
In as much as this is good news, some experts argue that the removal of these taxes will affect the revenue streams of the government.
