The leadership of the minority caucus in parliament will change as the 8th Parliament gets dissolved on Friday, January 3, 2024 to pave the way for the inauguration of the 9th Parliament.
This will be followed by the swearing-in of the President-elect, John Mahama on Monday, 6th January 2024.
When the new 9th Parliament opens, the NPP will be the minority caucus whereas NDC controls majority seat in parliament.
Alexander Afenyo-Markin, serving as Majority Leader, will take on a new role of Minority Leader.
According to JoyNews report sighted by Kasatintin.com, ‘Patricia Appiagyei, the Member of Parliament for Asokwa Constituency in the Ashanti Region, has been appointed Deputy Minority Leader, while Frank Annoh-Dompreh, MP for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, will retain his position as Minority Chief Whip.
Other appointments include Habib Iddrisu as 1st Deputy Minority Whip, while the Second Deputy Whip went to the new MP-elect for Weija Gbawe, Jerry Ahmed Shaib.
The only new person in the NPP caucus leadership is Davis Ansah Opoku, who replaces the outgoing 2nd Deputy Whip, Alex Tetteh, who lost his seat’.SOURCE: Kasatintin.com
